Oct 2009 Halloween

Its FINALLY here!!!

Its HALLOWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN!!!

This year we had another little devil...
Bat Girl and the cutest Elmo on the face of the earth!
Once we got outside I'm not sure Kirby knew what the heck we were doing. It was dark. It was cold! WHY were we outside?
Rob trooped along with us with stroller AND wagon in tow! What a dad!
The very first house!!
This was Regan's first Halloween to really know what was going on. Seems like she's got it down!
See what I mean? Cutest Elmo ever!
Definitely a good time!
Remember Kirby asking WHY we were outside when it was dark and cold? One reason...
`
CANDY!!!
`
Here's the loot...

Oct 2009 Pumpkin Carving

You know, once you get pumpkins, you HAVE to carve them!! Especially if Halloween is TOMORROW!!!
Rob is our pumpkin starter because he's much better (and more careful) with the BIG knife!
Kirby realizes that this could be fun!
Regan and her pumpkin...
I'm not sure Regan remembered what was inside the pumpkin!
But she's willing to dig in and check it out...
...maybe?...
...and maybe NOT!... Check out her face! I think she said "EWWWWWW!" quite a few times that evening!
I helped Regan with her carving.
She was very anxious to do it herself!
And here it is! We went with the more 'traditional' approach.

And I don't know how many times she had to take the top off. Probably somewhere around a million!
She was proud of her finished product!
Here's Taytum and her pumpkin.
She knows the drill,
and got right to work.

Rob helped Taytum this time around.
But Taytum did most of the work. You can see her dad in the background doing what he does best...being funny!
Taytum and her dad's finished product. And I THINK that is the Girl Scout sign she's giving? Yes, a sweet little Girl Scout carving a skull and crossbones! HA!

Oct 2009 Pumpkin Patch

It was cold.

It was raining.

Scratch that.

It was POURING.

We had run out of time.

There were no days left.

We had to go.

So we went...

Yup. But at least Taytum is smiling!

Just get pumpkins and leave, OK? Nope! Let's go see the animals!!!
Did I mention that it was raining?
Kirby and Rob stayed where it was dry. Someone had to take pictures, right?

Its raining and we're having fun!
Yes, cold. Yes, raining. But I keep going back to the smiles...
Oh, and muddy. Can't forget muddy...with BIG puddles! Too big to avoid!
We like to go out into the fields to pick our pumpkins, but this time we just decided to pick from the ones that were set out. Good idea...
I think we like this one...
Regan's a good picker-outer. And she doesn't mess around. She finds one and she's done.
This one is Regan's pumpkin!
Taytum, on the other hand, needs a little more time to find one that's just perfect.
Hmmm...let's go look over here...
Hey, Taytum, what about these?
OK, did I mention that its cold?
Did I mention that its raining? (Look at Regan waiting so patiently!)
Gee, Regs, do you think we'll be here ALL day?
For Pete's sake!!! Pick a pumpkin already!!!
Wait! I think we've found one!!
YESSSSS! The perfect "mini" pumpkin! Taytum is a good picker-outer too, she just needs more time.
The pumpkins have been picked and the shoes have been soaked. The troops are bringin' 'em home!
Notice the MUD in that last picture? Niiiiiice!
.
There are no more pictures of the pumpkin patch. We headed to the car, peeled off wet, muddy shoes and socks, toweled off as much as possible and headed home.
.
It was not a perfect day for the pumpkin patch. It was cold. It was raining. It was muddy. But it was a blast! We will always remember the year we picked pumpkins in the pouring rain!
.
Again, I go back to the smiles. That's all that matters!
