Updating the Blog

I have been trying, here and there, to update this blog as best as I can. There is a lot of time to cover. The posts that you will read/see behind this are from January of 2009 through August of 2009. It seems as if life is moving at the speed of a freight train, so it is often hard to keep up. The posts are mostly of pictures with a few comments here and there. I am merely taking note of events rather than well thought out prose to accompany the pictures! I hope you enjoy what you see. There will be more catching up very soon. I'm on a mission!!

Kirby's Baptism August 9, 2009

Kirby is about the only child we were on the stick for when it came to Baptisms. Our other two girls were quite a bit older (just months), but we got it going for Kirby. Here are some pictures from the ceremony...
Kirby is getting restless...
...and she wasn't too happy with anyone messing with her!!!
...but all three girls seemed OK with the whole water-on-the-head bit...
Here she is in her dress. I wanted so desperately for all the girls to have their own dresses, but I could not find one that would fit Kirby. So she borrowed Regan's, which really isn't even a real Baptism dress, it was a "Christmas" dress (Regan was Baptized right before Christmas), but it seems to fit the occasion. She is so stinkin' cute!
Anointing and the Holy Oil...
Sweet baby...
I just love this picture because of the way Kirby is looking at her dad... too cute!
Our family...
Kirby's Godparents... Uncle Chris and Aunt Cori...
The priest...
The cousins in attendance...
And with Granny and Gramps...
Mommy and her three girls!!! Craziness...

August 2009

Here are our three girls as of August 2009. This first one is cute and is titled "The Three Amigas," which is what their daddy calls them...
Taytum is 5, Regan is 2 1/2 and Kirby is 4 months old.
Kirby is an itty bitty thing! And when these pictures were taken, it just was NOT good timing. She was hungry and the usually accommodating studio was very busy that day, so it was hard to give us extra time. So just before each shot we had the bottle in little Kirb's mouth and then yanked it out for the picture to be taken. So, not the greatest pics, but we survived!

Big and Little July 2009

Here are a couple of cute pics of the Big and Little in our family...

Cooking with Granny July 2009

It's always nice when Granny is around. Sometimes it's hard to find time to do the fun things with the girls... at least it seems hard to find that time with a new baby in the house! So here is Granny taking charge and having some fun with the girls...

It's 'dangerous' to let Regan dive into things head first because she really is TWO... but here we are holding our breath, hoping that the bowl stays on the counter at least!
See, about two seconds and she's interested in something else!!! :o) You can even tell by the look on Taytum's face that something is probably about to go hay-wire! But I'm pretty sure that Regan is already asking if she can put her fingers in the bowl! Silly girl!
I can't remember what was going on here, but I really think that Taytum's face says it all! Ha ha ha ha! Taytum is our 'follow the rules and do things the right way' child. Regan is our 'do whatever feels good and fun' child. This picture shows that... it also shows Granny swooping in to 'fix' things!
You will NOT see Regan icing the cupcakes. I had to draw the line! I really didn't want to have an icing covered kid running through my kitchen. I think we were brave enough to let Taytum handle the task!
She did a pretty good job, and the cupcakes were yummy!!! Way to go, girls! And thanks, Granny!

Patio Planting July 2009

Our patio in the back of our house is complete... well, almost. Rob designed a couple of flower beds to be put in around the waterfall. He thought this would add to the effect. And what a fun project... plant some flowers with your kids! As a family we went out to the local home improvement store and picked up what we needed, including some hydrangeas to plant. I let Rob and the girls work, and I took the pictures. Here are some pics from our day of patio planting...

Rob is good at explaining why they are doing whatever. Now, is Taytum listening? We can only hope!

I'm pretty sure Taytum understands what to do, and she gets right to work. You can see Regan in the background. She's much more interested in getting into things, like the big bag of dirt!

But Regan did decide, every once in a while, that she wanted to help too...

and the hole is getting bigger...

Taytum is doing well turning her thumb green...

FINALLY, Regan gets to get into the bag of dirt!

Things are starting to take shape...

There is a bed on each side of the waterfall. You can see the waterfall and one complete bed in the background of this picture. Here Rob and Taytum are putting the hydrangea into the other bed.

A very proud gardener...

Most of the pictures have had to do with Taytum. So what do you think Miss Regan was up to this whole time?

Here she wants to get into the big dirt bag, uh-gain!!!

She wants to smile for the camera...

And soon enough, she was off to the swing set. The whole planting-a-garden thing just didn't keep her interest. So she went climbing...

and sliding...

...and swinging... Check the face! This kid cracks me up!

...and tire swinging...

...and hanging upside down...

...and climbing up the slide. I just LOVE these next two pictures! Watching the shadow of her little feet going up the slide is awesome!!!

What goes up must come down...

and down again...

When Regan wasn't climbing, sliding or swinging, she was a bird, of course!!

One of the highlights of the whole planting project was a little toad we found living in one of the beds. The girls named him, Toady. Ha!

I tried to explain to the girls about keeping the frog safe and not harming or scaring it. But I just couldn't resist when they wanted to hold their new friend!

Even Regan was brave enough to hold it. Though there were loud squeals that followed this picture!

Toady DID survive the patio planting, the human groping and the showing off to the neighbors. He/She still lives happily (I think) in our back yard. The girls have found him/her a few times hanging out by the swing set. I guess that's a good sign!

I also have two videos to post about Toady and his new found friends. But for some reason blogger is not taking my uploads today! I will try to upload them soon!!
